Thinking ahead
This last week hasn't seen much knitting...I've only just turned the heel on the first Pomatomi. Mostly I've been staring into the UFO basket and dreaming about the new projects I want to start. I did make some stitch markers though!
For my friend Janis, whose birthday was in July (better late than never, eh?).
But back to new projects. Right now I've got patterns and yarn for the following:
Beau, from Rowan Vintage Knits (Rowan Yorkshire Tweed Aran in Muffin):

Why I should knit this: This is Christmas knitting...I could get it out of the way FIVE months early! Plus, it would be a pretty straightforward knit (good for lazy summer knitting).
Finn, from Rowan 36 (Rowan Yorkshire Tweed Aran in Tusk):

Why I should knit this: This one is also a good simple knit. It's a candidate for Thunk's X-mas sweater.
Saddle-Shoulder Aran Cardigan, from Wool Gathering 63 (Canadian Regal in medium brown):

Why I should knit this: the oh-so-clever construction is v. tempting and it would require some thought and skill to knit. Plus, I'd have to learn how to steek (eek!). This would obviously be the most challenging of the lot. Also a candidate for Thunk's X-mas sweater.
I like them all…they’d all knock a knit off the Christmas list...the question is, which one would you like to see me knit?
Comments
I vote for either 2 or 3. 3 is the most wearable for a boy, and 3 is just plain fun. Can't wait to see what you make!

Cute stitch markers!
I vote option A.

Cute stitch markers! I took up beading for about a nanosecond before I took up knitting. I feel horribly wasteful now, but I couldn't handle two obsessions and I ended up throwing out all my beads. Shameful, I know! Ok, I'll stop treating your comment box like my confessional.
I really like the Beau sweater (hello, I am a Rowan ho) but that Saddle Shoulder cardigan looks reeeeeeeally interesting. Plus, steek!

The Saddle-Shoulder Aran Cardigan, of course! Challenging is good, learning is good, facing your fears of snipping is good. Plus, if you're going to start Christmas knitting in August it'd better be something that deserves that amount of preparation! :)
(That said, Beau is my personal favourite. D'you think you could persuade Thunk to wear the hat too?)

I really like Finn (maybe because I am one, hahaa!), but the others look nice too. Cute stitch markers!

saddleshoulder aran!! was there really any question? ;)
The other ones are great though, i have considered both myself. I need to get my hands on that issue of woolgathering. Are there any more awesome arans in there?

Selfishly, I vote for Beau; I've been thinking it would be a good candidate for my dad for Xmas, so I'd like to see how it goes! But the aran would probably be the most fun for you.
I love, love, love the little eggplant and apple stitch markers.

In response to Philippa - I'll pledge myself in e-print on this: If Elli finds a hat big enough to fit over my spacious cranium, I will happily wear it in conjuction with Beau. And pose in it for blog pictures.

I vote for #3 also. I agree about the challenge of steeks, especially if you're starting it now. The first one looks similar to one you already made Thunk (which was beautiful by the way) so this would give him a different look.

I vote for Finn - it looks like a great quick knit and then I can watch as you enjoy the Yorkshire Tweed Aran (wish I had some of that in the stash!).
Love the stitch markers!

My vote is for Beau, from Rowan Vintage Knits.
I love your stitch markers. I just bought some in the shape of goddesses because I figure I need the encouragement of the muses as I'm learning to knit. It never dawned on me that I could make my own--silly me.

*jumps up and down* Number 3! Number 3! Number 3! I want to watch you get your steek on!

I love the stitch markers! Especially the coffee cup - I work at a coffeeshop though,so I might be a bit biased.
My vote is for Beau, because I was thinking about making that too, so I'd love to see your version of it.

Hi!
I am new to your blog, which is absolutely delightful by the way, and found you through Mama-of-Purl who is working on a pair of your Squirrelly Mittens.
I would cast a vote for Beau only because I would want that guy to somehow materialize once the sweater was complete ;-)
Really all of your choices are wonderful and I can't wait to see the results.
Best,
Abi

I say Beau!

Go for Beau, it's got a style with a bit of attitude and Thunk voted for it too :)

I vote for Beau...oh, wait were we looking at sweaters?
What I really want to see is the turned heel of your Pomatomus. I'm working on my first pair and a little uncertain of where the heel flap goes. Is the "join" yarn from casting on in the middle of the heel or off to the side? :)

Fantastic stitch markers!

Cute stitch markers!
Beau and Finn are nice, I'm notsomuch a fan of that last one though. Looks frumpy. (Can a man's sweater look frumpy?)

I love #2. Super nice!

My vote is for either Beau or the saddle shoulder cardigan. But isn't the real question what Thunk would like better? ;) Love the stitch markers!

I vote for a slightly more fitted number 3--modeled by the dude in number 1 (and KEEP THE HAT)!
